We have finished our Victorians topic by looking at Victorian prisons.
We found out all about why Victorians wanted prisons, the living conditions of prisoners and about hard labour.
We then experienced a mild and short version of labour the prisoners may have had to put up with. We found it fun and just “a bit like a workout” but realised how tough it must have been for the prisoners having to do it in worse conditions and for much longer.
