Bug hunt in our PE session July 2025

Exploring our garden environment with Phil in our PE session. The children love to explore new places and had lots of fun looking for different bugs. We found a frog which some of the children were very brave to hold it, we talked about how we could help to look after the frog and other creatures. We looked at different areas they may live, what sounds they make and the colours and shapes. Through this we did lots of counting, colour and shape recognition. Phil then encouraged the children to move in different ways like lots of different animals and bugs.

Our first Sports Day with Phil- 1st July 2025

The children have taken part in their first sports day where they was cheered on by their parents and family. The children took part in the sack race, bean bag in hoops, spoon and egg and a running race. All children did fantastic taking part and in our eyes are all the winners. Well done Mighty Mini's !

Different Occupations- 30.6.25

Wow what a busy week we have had in the Mighty Mini's where we have been learning all about different occupations. We have invited in some visitors to talk to us about their jobs and have learnt so much. We have had Michael from the RAF, Pearl the nurse, the lollypop lady, the police and we went to a little visit to the fire station. The children loved meeting all these new people and throughout the week we have been doing various activities to fit in with the visits. Michael brought in visual aids for the children to look and wear, he helped them make their own little aeroplanes. The lollypop lady did some role playing about the safety of crossing the road, the police brought lots of dressing up and we even got to sit in the police car and press the sirens. The children loved the fire station where they pretended to be firefighters using the hose and sitting in the boat and fire engine. We had the best week learning and develop our understanding further.

Little Red Riding Hood

The Mighty Mini's love to dress up and re-act the story of Little Red Riding Hood with their friends, we took it in turns to be the wolf, grandma and little red riding hood. We created our own little tea party, decorate masks, create our own lovely art work, loved listening to the story. Our Mighty Mini's have the best imaginations and building on ideas with their friends.

UNDER THE SEA- Beginning of June

The children have taken a keen interest in under the sea creatures and have enjoyed learning about these and the sea through their play. Throughout the week we have been doing a variety of activities that the children have chosen alongside the adults. We have been creating different sea creatures, making boats, seaweed, submarines and lots more. The children love messy play and acting out what each creature does, we loved dressing up and singing lots of under the sea songs

18th May 2025

Through out the week we have been developing our understanding of number through a variety of fun filled activities. The children have enjoyed mark making on a smaller and larger scale, building with different materials, counting up to 20 and even beyond. We love to have fun whilst promoting children's learning further and developing their mathematical development.

12th May 2025

The children have taken an interest in our planet Earth so this week in nursery we have been learning all about space and the different planets. The children have loved learning about our solar system and did amazing remembering all the planets. We have been creating planets from paper mache, dressing up as astronauts, creating and decorating our own space rockets/ships. The children have been working together using large cardboard boxes to create a big rocket to take us to space, we use tin foil on different objects within our environment as space helmets. The children have fantastic imagination and have enjoyed role playing going to space. At snack time we have been having a picnic on the moon and loved a space themed snack and was pretending to look out for aliens and flying saucers. Overall, we have had a busy fun filled week in the Mighty Mini's, 5,4,3,2,1, blast off into our next week of learning.

5th May 2025

Wow what a busy week we have had in the Mighty Mini's, where we have been exploring Europe and have begun to learn some new languages. The children have been learning French with Mrs McKinnon, Portuguese with Mrs Aspinall and German with Mrs Scales. Through these little lessons we have been developing our learning through play and have learnt colours, numbers, hello, bye, thank you and songs in the languages. One of our friends in Mini's Oliwia has been teaching us some Polish and did super well sharing her home language. At snack time we have tried some tradition foods from France, Poland, Germany and Portugal. Well done Mini's you did amazing learning new languages.

25th April 2025

What a busy first week back from Easter, we have welcomed some new friends to the Mighty Minis family. We have been exploring both the indoor and outdoor environments, had lots of fun with Phil in our PE sessions and we have been learning lots about dinosaurs. Through our activities we have been developing our fine and gross motor skills, turn taking, listening skills and practising our counting and identifying numerals 1-10.

4th April 2025

The Mighty Mini's have been developing their knowledge and learning about Easter and church. We had the opportunity to go and have a look around our church. The children loved sharing this with their friends and there was lots of learning opportunities to develop our knowledge through seeing the church and talking about what we can see. The children have been talking about Jesus, the cross and some of the children have talked about going to church with their family. We love to explore new environments and build on children's interest and knowledge.
