Year 6 have been studying islands this term. Last half term, we focused upon the geography of islands and looked at a range of geographical aspects, including longitude and latitude, The Tropics and The Equator and biomes and climate zones. We also looked at landmarks around the world and identified whether these were human or physical features.
Based on our knowledge, we designed our own islands, which had to have a physical feature and a human feature positioned on it. We identified where each island was on the map and from this, we decided which continent it would belong to and what its climate zone and biome would be.
We even established our own laws for each island, after looking at and analysing laws within different countries. Ask your children about the islands to see what they can remember about their own.
