Stone Soup

4 February 2021 (by Victoria Woosey)

As part of the Explore section of our new RE topic, the children in Year 3 have been listening to the story Stone Soup.

Both the children in school (and many at home) have made their own version of vegetable soup (not using stones) to learn all about the importance of sharing.

The children recognised that the stone in the story was not really magic, but that the kindness and the sharing that it encouraged between the villagers was the greatest gift.

Over our Thursday Teams catch up, the children shared their experiences of making soup, explained how the village people in the story changed because of the man who made the stone soup and they were even able to make links to say how they thought the man was like Jesus.... encouraging us to be selfless.  Lots of wonderful RE work completed today.

Also a big thank you to Becky for saving the day and enabling us to cook our soup in school!
